Francisco J. Terán graduated in Physics in 1997 at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Immediately after, he joined the group of Marek Potemski at the Grenoble High Magnetic Field Lab CNRS-MPI/FKF for starting his thesis work on “Spin Dependent Phenomena in n-type doped semimagnetic semiconductor quantum well structures”. In November 2001, he obtained his PhD degree. On March 2002, Dr. Teran moved to the Quantum Transport group led by Prof. Laurence Eaves at the University of Nothingham as research associ- ated. On September 2003, Dr. Teran come back to Grenoble High Magnetic Field Lab CNRS-MPI/FKF as “chercheur associé”. On March 2005, Dr.Teran joined SemicUAM group at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid to work with Prof. José Manuel Calleja as Juan de la Cierva fellow. On March 2007, Dr. Teran moved to IK4-Gaiker Technological Center as Senior researcher (2008 Torres Quevedo fellowship). On April 2009, Dr. Terán joined IMDEA Nanociencia (since 2012 as a Ramón y Cajal fellowship) to strength the research line on magnetic nanoparticles for biomedical applications. From 2010 to 2013, Dr. Teran led the AFM Service. Since 2012, Dr. Teran led the Hyperthermia Lab and since 2014, Dr. Teran led the Instrumentation Service.
The Hyperthermia Lab focuses his research activities on the physical phenomena related to magnetic nanoparticles subjected to alternating magnetic fields and its biomedical application. In particular, we are highly active in:
- The study of the influence of intrinsic (size, chemical composition) and extrinsic (field conditions, aggregation, concentration, viscosity,etc..) parameters on the AC magnetic response of magnetic nanoparticles (Salas et al. J. Phys. Chem. C 2014, Ovejero et al. Phys. Chem.Chem.Phys. 2016).
